A solo performance within and in response to Allan Kaprow’s 1961 installation at The Hepworth Wakefield Gallery, in collaboration with dance artist Helka Kaski. The work explored the ways in which the material of human bodies might be implicated through visitors’ encounters with the thousands of tyres in Kaprow’s installation. The simple activities of a single performer asked what affective or visceral qualities might be provoked through the relationship of personhood, skin and rubber. The work subtly inferred the various dynamics enabled by the interaction of these forms, suggesting a range of experiences of movement, boundary crossings and intimacy.
